Gao Xiaosong, a well-known Chinese host of the successful platform Youku and also musician, composer, producer, director and executive of the Alibaba Group was in Greece for shootings in terms of his talk show “Morning Call” which is hosted in Youku platform.

Gao will present Greece to the Chinese audience as his first stop out of a series of episodes in terms of his show about Mediterranean Countries. Celebrating the 6th anniversary of the show, they are aiming to present and showcase the ancient Greek culture but also its evolution through time until the modern Greece of nowadays, through the customs, the monuments and the cultural expression.

The shootings, organized by Argonauts Productions S.A., took place in Attica, Santorini and Crete, where Gao was met with politicians, scientists, artists and entrepreneurs of Greece.

At the Poseidon Temple of Sounio, Tai Chi demonstration shootings took place by Shangai Radio and Television News Channel, in terms of a new feature documentary series consisting of 10 episodes. Argonauts Productions S.A. organized the shooting.

The title of the film is: “Decoding the Traditional Chinese Medicine Map” and it is an initiative of the Health and Family Planning Committee of Shanghai, the University Of Traditional Chinese Medicine Of Shanghai and the Collaborating Centre of Radio and Television Centers of Singapore.

The transmission of the episodes at the Shanghai TV will start the first quarter of 2019, aiming to showcase the procedure of cultural exchange, the global standardization of inheritance and the innovation of Chinese Medicine in the world.

A place in Venice Film Festival won the new short film by Thanasis Neofotistos with the title “Patision Avenue”. The director characterized the film as his personal Everest due to the very demanding single-long-take-shot in central Athens!

The film participated in Orizzonti as the only Greek short film in the competition and received excellent reviews.

Patision Avenue is an Argonauts Productions S.A production in co-production with ERT S.A.

Katerina is a young, modern woman who is running to catch probably the most important audition of her life, when she receives a call from her son, Yannis, who informs her that he is home alone. Through a series of calls Katerina realizes that no one can or wants to help her.

A few minutes before the audition the phone rings again, it’s Yannis who prepares to cook. Katerina is trying to stay calm but her son stops answering her calls and she fights to balance the most important roles of her life, whilst walking in the most controversial area of central Athens, Patision Avenue.

Last year, a new bill passed, that offers a 25% cash rebate in foreign productions that will choose Greece as a filming location

At the end of 2017, 75 million Euro, have been allocated for the funding of audio visual productions in 2018.

It is in Lamia and the wider region of Fthiotida that Yannis Economides’s fifth feature film will be filmed. It is an international coproduction between Greece (Argonauts Productions S.A., Faliro House), France (EZ Films), Germany (Sutor Kolonko) and Cyprus (Y.E. Films Ltd), entitled Ballad For A Pierced Heart. Among others, the following actors star in the film: Vicky Papadopoulou, Vassilis Bisbikis, Yannis Tsortekis, Giorgos Giannopoulos, Stathis Stamoulakatos and Vangelis Mourikis.

The director along with his collaborators will be in Lamia and the wider region of mainland Greece, for pre-production, from October 2017 until the end of the winter. The commencement of shooting is scheduled for spring, 2018.

in a Feature Film Award, ex aequo. Roza now continues her journey in Australia and will open the 24th Greek Film Festival, in Melbourne, in October 2017. Soon there will be screenings in New York as it will be screened as part of the New York City Greek Film Festival.

As part of the Crossroads Co-Production Forum, the jury awarded Behind the Haystacks the CNC Award of 10,000 Euros for Script Development.

The project was also selected for the award by the French consulting company Initiative Film, which offers its services for the development of the film.

Golden Dionysus for Best Short Film goes to “Prosefhi: Greek School Prayer” by Thanassis Neofotistos!

“Prosefhi: Greek School Prayer” won the Best Short Film Prize, Golden Dionysus, at the Drama International Short Film Festival 2014. Alejandro Cabrera was also awarded the Honorary Distinction for the Sound Design. The film is a NF-films and t-shOrt production with Argonauts handling the International Sales.

The film is taking place in Dimitri’s high school, where Vassilis and his friends, a gang of bullies, terrorize him. When he learns that it’s his turn to say the morning prayer in front of the entire school, Vassilis becomes the only thing he can think about. But, what’s going to happen when the time comes and he stands in front of the whole school and mainly in front of him?   While seeking their identity, through violence, they will inevitably test each other’s boundaries.

“STRATOS” by Yannis Economides, continues its successful International Festival career in Karlovy Vary and wins awards in Switzerland and Italy!The film received an honorable mention for its powerful storytelling and the exceptional performance of its lead actor Vangelis Mourikis at the Bildrausch – Basel Filmfestival (Switzerland) and the grand prize at Med Film Fest in Rome (Amore e Psiche award). “STRATOS” was also screened at Horizons in Karlovy Vary and in the Competition section of the European Film Festival Palic.
