Golden Dionysus for Best Short Film goes to “Prosefhi: Greek School Prayer” by Thanassis Neofotistos!
“Prosefhi: Greek School Prayer” won the Best Short Film Prize, Golden Dionysus, at the Drama International Short Film Festival 2014. Alejandro Cabrera was also awarded the Honorary Distinction for the Sound Design. The film is a NF-films and t-shOrt production with Argonauts handling the International Sales.
The film is taking place in Dimitri’s high school, where Vassilis and his friends, a gang of bullies, terrorize him. When he learns that it’s his turn to say the morning prayer in front of the entire school, Vassilis becomes the only thing he can think about. But, what’s going to happen when the time comes and he stands in front of the whole school and mainly in front of him? While seeking their identity, through violence, they will inevitably test each other’s boundaries.
“STRATOS” by Yannis Economides, continues its successful International Festival career in Karlovy Vary and wins awards in Switzerland and Italy!The film received an honorable mention for its powerful storytelling and the exceptional performance of its lead actor Vangelis Mourikis at the Bildrausch – Basel Filmfestival (Switzerland) and the grand prize at Med Film Fest in Rome (Amore e Psiche award). “STRATOS” was also screened at Horizons in Karlovy Vary and in the Competition section of the European Film Festival Palic.
“LIGNITE” is the first Greek project to be selected in the Jerusalem International Film Lab! The film project, in development, by director & co-writer Gregory Rentis, writer Effi Gavrilou and producer Maria Tsigka travels to Israel in 2014.
“LIGNITE”, a co-production with Germany (Busse & Halberschmidt), has been awarded the Best Plus Minus One Pitch Prize in Sofia Meetings.
